James McCullen has been called many things – arms dealer, heartless mercenary, war profiteer – yet none of those chilling titles sums him up as simply or as brutally as the name by which he’s referred to only in whispers: Destro. Here, exclusive to the site, is a first look at the concept art for Destro’s appearance in G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra. Illustrator Matt Codd was provided with references from G.I. Joe comics, action figures and episodes of the animated series in order to ensure that careful attention was paid to maintaining the character’s unique and iconic look – all while making him appear as realistic as possible. Christopher Eccleston looks pretty slimy in the trailers, one of those villains that is really sly but completely insane.
No wonder he got the part in Doctor Who. HE WAS INSANE……….in a good way lol!!
Now THAT is sweet! Destro is pretty much my all-time favorite cartoon bad guy, and I’m really looking forward to seeing him come to life in live action. This week better go by fast! LOL!!
There is one thing I can say about Eccleston, and he’s one of those guys who plays those bad characters so well that you’d really want to slap him in the face.
Although a few of them…well, I’m pretty attracted to. Destro is one of them.

ppppssshhhhh where the hell is cobra commander? The whole concept of GIJOE is a bunch of larger than life colorful characters. i want to see the guy with the parate on his shoulder. twins that finish eachother sentences and well thats enough
Insane? He may be light on conscience but Destro is very intelligent and sophisticated. I always liked him; he reminds me of a classy Bond villain.
Very nice design. I’m glad to see it remains faithful to its sources. No need to reinvent the wheel on this one.

Is there anyone who can answer a question for me? What is the OFFICIAL name of the Cobra gunship? I have seen and read about it being named Typhoon AND it being named Razor.. it seems in the ROC by Max Allen Collins it is Typhoon but on the Official Internet site it is named Razor gunship…. what name is correct or supersedes the other? anyone?
