Although no official announcements have been made quite yet, the Hollywood rumor mill is churning – it’s looking like Stephen’s next film could be either an adaptation of Tarzan or a sequel to G.I. Joe. The question is…which one would you rather see? I have to admit that I’m of two minds on the subject – while Stephen and Stuart Beattie’s draft of Tarzan is absolutely incredible, paying homage to Edgar Rice Burroughs’ source material while incorporating a terrific supernatural twist, I can’t wait to see where the cliffhanger ending of G.I. Joe will take us in a sequel. Sound off in the comments and let us know what you think!
I would much rather see GI Joe 2, there’s been plenty of Tarzan movies. Sommers has just crafted a new universe with Joe and its an entertaining one, I would much rather visit that world sooner rather then later.
No contest…GI JOE!!!!!!!!!
Well I would like to see both actually. Stephen made a movie about G.I. Joe that got me interested in the old series and made something fun for today’s kids. And I wouldn’t mind seeing what he does with Tarzan if shoots it the way he did the Jungle Book I think he could have a major hit on his hands.
A sequel to Joe please. The first one turned out great and the second one would have a lot of potential to be amazing.
no contest you have to do gijoe 2 zartan is a awseome character and it would be cool to see either his orgin story from the comics since his ties in with storm shadow and snake eyes an cobra commanders story. or a whole new twist to it.since he didnt get much screen time in gijoe 1.or at least put more of him in gijoe 2 please
But it’s not so much a question of ‘which one’ than a question of ‘which one first’, right? I personally think Tarzan should come first (even though I loved G.I.Joe) because there have been heaps of big action movies lately and it’ll be a nice change for something jungley. I’m cool with either one though
I dunno…although the 1984 movie “Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan” came pretty close to one of his films…
We have now the beginning of a story, Stephen can’t leave us without a sequel of G.I. Joe!
Didn’t I say we’ll need a third too?
Does this answer your question? Yo Joe!! I’ll even give you the title to the squeal- free of charge. LOL “GIJOE Snake Eyes!” If you do a sequel- make sure the writer (If it’s Stuart Beattie again) Make sure he or who ever writes it, write it more off of the “A Real American Hero” Source material. Pretty please!!:D
GI JOE 2 PLEASE I LOVED THE FIRST AND JUST REALLY CANT WAIT FOR PART 2
Easy call….a second installment of GIJOE.
I’d definitely like to see a GI joe sequal, but I wouldn’t mind seeing a Tarzan movie either. Make both, but do GI joe first.
And make sure Zartan has a bigger role in the sequal. He was the best character.
Both.
“G.I. Joe 2″ first!
Screw Tarzan, it’s been done a million times. Make G.I. Joe 2 and get rid of that terrible Cobra Commander mask and give him a better one. Make sure Storm Shadow isn’t dead as well, kthnx.
GiJoe! I would much rather see nonstop action than a dude running around in a loin cloth.
I think Tarzan would be fun, but Joe 2 is going to be made if Sommers is on-board or not, and I like his direction and pace for ROC, I would be worried about what a change in directors would do to the look/feel of what has already been created (not that i wouldn’t mind to see a ‘few’ more classic joe elements used the next time around) … So I vote Joe 2
Gotta go with the G.I. JOE sequel, as this first movie only scratched the surface. There’s so much more to do within that universe.
With out question or doubt, G.I. Joe 2 needs to be released A.S.A.P. The ending was one of the best “there is going to be a sequel endins since the empire strikes back. Bring on the Joes for another tour of duty
I vote for G.I. Joe 2! Loved the first one and can’t wait for 2!
GI Joe, hands down. Though I look forward to seeing Tarzan, I just cannot wait for the GI Joe sequel. Interesting bits of info regarding characters that have a strong chance of being in the sequel revealed at JoeCon have increased my excitement of the film franchise. Keep up the great work, Stephen. Can’t wait to see what you come up with next!
GI Joe please!
I really enjoyed the first film and really think that Sommers captured the ‘Joe-Feel’. I was very impressed and am really looking forward to the sequal!
GI Joe. No question about it!
Without a doubt, G.I. Joe 2. You can’t leave a film series like that after having a fun, kickass film, with a cliffhanger.
GI JOE 2
Yes please GI JOE 2. I liked the first
But please
bring Storm Shadow back
Get a better mask for Cobra Commander and Destro. Give Zartan a bigger role
at least Bring Firefly and Flint in.
and make Baroness evil again
Tarzan is to easy of choice, being just about one specific character. GI Joe would be the challenge offering many interesting plots and favorable characters. Yo Joe!
GIJOE without a doubt. The GIJOE movie was a real treat and I am looking forward to the next one!
I would rather see a sequel for the GI Joe Movie. I very much enjoyed the movie and can not wait for a second one!
There is no question, G.I. Joe.
The question is, which Joe should be in the sequel?
MAINFRAME, MAINFRAME, MAINFRAME.
If rumors of Pink playing bad girl on a bike Zarana, are true. Then the question is; which actor should play her love interest, the good guy with the big computer; Mainframe? Many fans are fully aware of the story. What happens when a biker chick meets a computer geek? What ensued was the classic 80s Romeo & Juliet toon story. The Zarana & Mainframe romance is further forever linked to the first-known sinking of the biggest Joe toy ever; the Flagg! Which actor is worthy of that honor? The honor of playing thee main man whose love sunk the Flagg, whose intellectual prowess built the B.E.T. in the 1987 toon movie, and whose mojo attracts bad girls on bikes all in one character — Mainframe.
After all, it was he who fixed Bumblebee in the G.I.Joe v. Transformers comic cross-over; and we’ve yet to transfer that billy-bad-ass mini-series into movies. Mainframe’s such a critical key character interlacing the narrative threads which bind the Joe and Transformer universes; as one. Mainframe complex characteristics has all the more to offer now, significantly more than ever before – to this computer-driven world. I like to see how a sequel can look like; when Mainframe handles a brigade of a billion B.A.T.S.! How cool would that be!?! Or better yet; G.I. Joe v. Transformers, the movie. The Trilogy! And, how many a mindful path cult-favorite Mainframe can step-up to dealing with even bigger bots; the Decepticons!
GI Joe 2 please. Snake Eyes back story from Comics. Have him disfigured from saving Scarlet in a helicopter crash.
GIJOE 2 definitely! most fun Ive had at the movies for a long time. One of the most creative blockbusters in years, in terms of production design, action and characters. Heaps of potential for a sequel or sequels.
GO JOE!
I will NOT go see TARZAN. However I WILL go see GIJOE2. Maybe twice like the first one! It was a phenomenal adaptation and screams SEQUEL! GIJOE2 IS A MUST!
G.I. JOE 2, then TARZAN. Bring in Flint for sure in the sequel, along with Shipwreck. Give Zartan the Dreadnoks, who assist in busting out Cobra Commander, Destro, and Baroness. And find a way to keep Baroness a Cobra. I won’t like it if she somehow turns good. Though in the mirror mask for Cobra Commander, do not cast Pink as Zarana (ugh!), use Stalker instead of Roadblock, give Snake Eyes Timber, and I’m there on opening day.
As for TARZAN, I’d love to see Stephen’s take on it. I’m always up for a period action-adventure film.
Definitely want Sommers to do Tarzan. Not that GI-Joe 2 wouldn’t be great, but Tarzan is one of my all time favorite characters. I can’t wait to see Sommers’ take on such an iconic character.
G.I. Joe 2, Lets get to see Cobra fully developed as well as get to see Snake Eyes and Scarlett’s story.
G.I. Joe 2 should be a Go!
I was really impressed on your take on the G.I. Joe Material after sawing it twice in the cinema.
G.I. Joe ended to be the most entertaining summer movie that year, and was in my opinion the most fun and violent PG-13 ActionMovie since Red Dawn.
I love Stephen Sommers direction of Action Scenes, where you can really follow what’s going on, without too quick jump cuts and 360 Degree shots.
Stuart Beattie’s script was really good and offered an intersting update and many references to the Comic Books. The Story contained things that you would only get in a middle chapter of a trilogy. Can’t wait to see what he has in mind for Part 2.
What it didn’t liked was the costume department. There has defineatly to be a change! The Mars Troops and the Black Suits of the Joes in the fast scenes couldn’t figure out who is who. With Cobra Commander in charge, the Troops in the sequel should have blueish uniforms. And change Cobra Commanders helmet!
I really look forward what you will do on G.I. Joe 2!
I would prefer “Tarzan” by far–yes, it has been done a zillion times, but no film version has YET to do the character in the books justice. But I would prefer that Mr. summers take his time with “Tarzan”, and do it right, than rush through and do a mediocre job. Plus, it would be neat as heck to premiere his “Tarzan” in 2012–exactly one century after the story was first published! So go ahead with “Joe” for all these impatient whipper-snappers, and we old timers will be happy to wait on a well-crafted, thought-out and executed(at last?) “Tarzan”!!!!
Tarzan for sure!
Now,It’s time to TARZAN !!!!!!
when can we expect a confirmation on what Stephen’s doing next?
No matter what the critics have said about “GI JOE The Rise of Cobra”, my family and friends think this movie is the most entertaining one they’ve seen in a long while! My mom even said it’s better than any of the Star Wars flicks she’d seen, and I agree totally! Screw the critics!!! Congratulations, Stephen and crew!!!
Can we see the sequel as early as 2010?!
I am sure that whatever choice makes, both it will be very good. But what I was looking forward to is the Steve (as he likes to be called.:)) Sommers/Steven Spielberg collaboration of “When Worlds Collide”. In one interview I saw, Steve mentioned he was working on a Tarzan script. I do not know why he wants to make a Tarzan movie. I thought he did a impossible-to-beat job on “The Jungle Book”.
Tarzan, a million times over, whether Stephen directs it or not.
I’m a lifelong Tarzan fan, but I have to say GI Joe 2. I grew up with the Joes in toy, comic and cartoon form, and I want more GI Joe on the big screen! It was the most fun I’ve had at the movies in a long, long time. I’d love to see more Joe, and hopefully more explanation of what Rex was doing going to that bunker. It was explained pretty clearly in the novelization, but that whole bit went by so quickly in the actual movie it felt like something was missing there. Loved the movie though, Yo Joe! Here’s hoping for Shipwreck and/or The Dreadnoks in the sequel, hopefully busting Destro and the Commander out of prison???
TARZAN!!!! No two ways about it!
I think a modern 21st century Tarzan could be great.
Let’s face it,sequels are very rarely as good as the orginals.
A modern Tarzan has so much more potential and made well a huge blockbuster.
