G.I. Joe Easter Eggs

G.I. Joe Easter Eggs

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra is in theaters TODAY!  And to follow up on yesterday’s post, here are a few more Easter eggs you should keep an eye out for while watching Duke, Ripcord, Snake Eyes and the rest of the JOEs battle the evil forces of Cobra.  As with yesterday’s hidden gems, bear in mind that actually catching them may require a wait for the DVD – they go by incredibly quickly but I promise you they’re there…

  • Keep a close eye out for Timber’s dog bowl in the Pit’s day room
  • Stephen Sommers and producer/editor Bob Ducsay have brief cameos in the targeting system of the Baroness’ glasses during the Convoy scene – watch closely and you’ll see them in the “Suspect Identification” window
  • Text from the action figure file cards for Duke, Ripcord, Snake Eyes, Heavy Duty, Scarlett and the Baroness is featured in the film.  The Baroness’ info appears in a suspect profile monitor during the Accelerator Suit chase – it’s one of the screens just above Breaker’s seat.  The rest of the file card info appears on Pit video display windows immediately following the Convoy Attack sequence
  • A Joe Cola machine can be seen in the Pit’s day room
  • When a Pit technician performs an X-Ray scan of the camel herder prior to the attack on the Pit, he’s identified as a member of the Medjai tribe – the same group that defends Imhotp’s tomb in The Mummy

Enjoy hunting for these Easter eggs and definitely let us know if you find any more!

I saw it last evening – what a great action movie – new charactors, new vilians and settings. Good plot with lots of twists and turns! Without giving too much away the best scenes are those in Paris! I have to get one of those Acelerator suits!!!!

I hope there is a sequel out soon!

Hi there. I saw the movie with my wife last thursday 6th, here in Argentina. We both had a joyful time, as I traveled back to my childhood and watched how Cobras and Joes adventures came to life again. We liked all characters, but I personally loved Vipers, all of them. With all these hidden stuff, now we know, so we’ll have to watch the movie again! Hope to see soon how the story continues.

Hmm, I knew there’d be a “Mummy” reference in there…of course, I find it ironic that in “Van Helsing” the Eiffel Tower was under construction, and in this one, it was being destroyed. :D

  7. Michael24 says:

The Eiffel Tower was also the first target of Cobra’s MASS Device in the original 1983 cartoon mini-series. :)

  8. Chris says:

Lovely spot Joanna! That makes this a full circle effort for Mr. Sommers.

Stephen, this was a tremendous effort, and I appreciate the inclusion of little details like these! Can’t wait for the sequel!

  9. Cliff says:

Timber’s dog bowl? Darn, I missed that!

Actually, the only thing that was wrong with the film was Timber wasn’t at Snake’s side.

Please correct this next time, Steve! ;)

Saw it two days ago. I really did enjoy it. It’s really a return to form for you Mr. Sommers. Congrats! It reminded me a lot of the 60s Bond-Movies, larger-than-life villains, huge ensemble cast. That must have been very difficult to juggle all those different storylines, and still give them a good line or two. The only odd thing was the lips on Snake-Eyes Mask. That was definetly a weird look. And try to work with Ray Park (and the costume designers of course) on a new suit, Ray looked quite stiff in some scenes. Must have been uncomfortable and hot for him. The classic commando suit with the modern visor is probably the better solution. Okay, can’t wait for GI JOE 2. Cheers !
