If it’s true that sound is fifty percent of the moviegoing experience, then G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra is definitely no exception to the rule. For the past several months, a team of more than forty highly trained audio engineers have been laboring to make Accelerator Suits sound fast, pulse guns sound deadly and dialogue sound crystal clear. In this week’s webisode, Sound Supervisor Per Hallberg comments on what he calls “the biggest film I’ve ever heard” while Stephen reveals how the inspiration for a trademark Rise of Cobra sound effect comes from one of his favorite childhood films. Check out the video and start getting your ears ready for August 7!
Cool! After doing some sound recording/mixing as part of a film course in college, I really respect and envy those sound techs. It’s a lot tougher than it looks. I bet this movie will sound GREAT!
Per Hallberg rocks. Check out LAST OF THE MOHICANS, HEAT or the BOURNE movies to hear some of his other work.
Really hope GI Joe 2 happens. I LOVED THIS FILM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
