Welcome To MARS

Welcome To MARS

With the release of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra less than three weeks away, we’re excited to bring you a  new and unique look behind the scenes.  Every couple of days, we’ll be debuting an exclusive piece of concept art from the film here on the site.  These are incredible pre-production sketches that give a sneak peek at what you’ll be seeing on August 7…or what you might have seen.  Since there are countless changes that happen between an artist’s drafting table and the big screen, some of these drawings provide glimpses into scenes that are either no longer in the film or have changed drastically along the way.

To kick things off, here’s a glimpse at glimpse at a concept for the MARS Control Room.  Any self-respecting villain needs a secret lair where he can concoct plans for world domination, and Destro is no exception.  This chamber is both the heart and the mind of his underwater base, located deep beneath the polar ice cap.  It’s here that he sets into motion his best laid plans, and that G.I. Joe becomes the world’s last, best hope.  Click the image to see a larger version, then let us know what you think!

Looks like the playset I always wanted when I was a kid…

Sommers knows Mars – his next film should be based on Pyramids of Mars. He’d knocked it out of the ballpark!

  3. I love this stuff- keep it coming!!

Id love one for a C3I post. Radical, upgrade AF Air Combat Command & Stragetic Command alone or NASA. Very Cool. How about GI Joe & Iron Man Team up agsinst foe X. Very Cool & Radical. & MARS supplies arms to both sides?
