With a few more weekends like this, we should be hearing more about G.I. Joe 2 sooner rather than later…

Joe will take us in a sequel. Sound off in the comments and let us know what you think!

Joe: The Rise Of Cobra. Illustrator Matt Codd was provided with references from G.I. Joe comics, action figures and episodes of the animated series in order to ensure that careful attention was paid to maintaining the character’s unique and iconic look – all while making him appear as realistic as possible. Click on the image below to see a larger version, then let us know what you think of the design.

After a terrific response to our “Calling The Shots” contest – which challenged visitors to the site to explain why they would make a valuable addition to the G.I. Joe team – we have our three winners! The competition was fierce, which came as no surprise – with incredible prizes like an autographed slate, a signed movie poster and an official crew hat up for grabs, I wouldn’t expect anything less. Without further adieu, here are our three lucky winners. Thanks to everyone who entered!

First Place – Production Slate Autographed By The Entire Cast Of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

First place goes to Nathan Anderson, who explains how coaching his son’s T-Ball team makes him more than ready for the challenges awaiting him on the field of battle. Here’s his entry:

Codename: Pinch Hitter

Specialty: T-Ball Coach

File Name: Anderson, Nathan A

With the ability to make it from my driveway to the neighborhood baseball diamond in less than three minutes, I’m a valuable wheelman for any G.I. Joe squad. And the fact that I set that record while driving a carload of nine year-olds – a cargo even more unstable than live nanomite warheads – means that any WMD would be safe in my hands. Once I’m at the diamond, coaching my son’s T-Ball team allows me to display leadership qualities that G.I. Joe looks for in its recruits – perseverance, fearlessness and mad skills with a clipboard. Weapons training? Please. The team’s snack time is evidence enough – I can slice an entire bag of oranges into even slices in no time flat. Best of all, I’d push for Cobra and the Joes to go out for pizza after every battle – there’s no dispute that can’t be worked out over a hot slice.

Second Place – G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra Poster Signed By Stephen Sommers

Second place winner Kevin Pochron decided that he needed more than one hundred and fifty words to explain why he’d make a terrific member of G.I. Joe…so he sent in some pictures that are worth a thousand! Here are a few snapshots of Kevin in full Snake Eyes regalia – a fashion statement that’s just earned him a G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra one-sheet autographed by Stephen. Click below to see larger versions.

Third Place – An Official G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra Crew Hat

Last but not least, third place goes to John Golembiewski. Sending in both a description of what he can bring to G.I. Joe and a photograph of himself as a customized action figure, he truly went above and beyond. Here’s what he had to say:

Code Name: P-Luv (short for Pudge Love)

Real name: Golembiewski, John

As a father and husband, I’m always on the look out for what could possibly harm my family. I’ve played enough video games to know that danger could be lurking around every corner. As a legal clerk, I’m all too familiar with working under pressure and under a tight deadline where one mistake could cost me and my team. So I stay focused, but loose until the job gets done and done right. As an action figure customizer, I know how to utilize what is on hand to do whatever it is that needs doing. Hobby knife scars don’t even compare to the hurt from failure. As a GI Joe fan website administrator, I know how lead by example, put together a team, and then trust in their expertise.

Thanks again to everyone who entered – every submissions was incredible so the decisions were far from easy. Stay tuned for more contest in the future since we have plenty more cool stuff to give away!
