After dedicating more than six and a half years to bringing G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra to theaters, executive producer Erik Howsam was kind enough to spend a few minutes describing his passion for the source material, his love of filmmaking and his thoughts on Stephen’s style of directing.  Click above to check out the interview, which includes all-new behind the scenes stills, After Effects trickery and more ninjas than any other webisode so far!

After a terrific response to our “Calling The Shots” contest – which challenged visitors to the site to explain why they would make a valuable addition to the G.I. Joe team – we have our three winners!  The competition was fierce, which came as no surprise – with incredible prizes like an autographed slate, a signed movie poster and an official crew hat up for grabs, I wouldn’t expect anything less.  Without further adieu, here are our three lucky winners.  Thanks to everyone who entered!

First place goes to Nathan Anderson, who explains how coaching his son’s T-Ball team makes him more than ready for the challenges awaiting him on the field of battle.  Here’s his entry:

With the ability to make it from my driveway to the neighborhood baseball diamond in less than three minutes, I’m a valuable wheelman for any G.I. Joe squad.  And the fact that I set that record while driving a carload of nine year-olds – a cargo even more unstable than live nanomite warheads – means that any WMD would be safe in my hands.  Once I’m at the diamond, coaching my son’s T-Ball team allows me to display leadership qualities that G.I. Joe looks for in its recruits – perseverance, fearlessness and mad skills with a clipboard.  Weapons training?  Please.  The team’s snack time is evidence enough – I can slice an entire bag of oranges into even slices in no time flat.  Best of all, I’d push for Cobra and the Joes to go out for pizza after every battle – there’s no dispute that can’t be worked out over a hot slice.

Second Place – G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra Poster Signed By Stephen Sommers

Second place winner Kevin Pochron decided that he needed more than one hundred and fifty words to explain why he’d make a terrific member of G.I. Last but not least, third place goes to John Golembiewski.  Sending in both a description of what he can bring to G.I. Joe and a photograph of himself as a customized action figure, he truly went above and beyond.  Here’s what he had to say:

As a father and husband, I’m always on the look out for what could possibly harm my family.  I’ve played enough video games to know that danger could be lurking around every corner.  As a legal clerk, I’m all too familiar with working under pressure and under a tight deadline where one mistake could cost me and my team.  So I stay focused, but loose until the job gets done and done right.  As an action figure customizer, I know how to utilize what is on hand to do whatever it is that needs doing.  Hobby knife scars don’t even compare to the hurt from failure.  As a GI Joe fan website administrator, I know how lead by example, put together a team, and then trust in their expertise.
